The T. Romana College Chess Club was formed in 2005. It immediately became one of the most popular clubs formed in the College. The Club functions smoothly under the supervision of the lecturers, who are appointed by the College authority, to look after the club.

The aims and objectives of the Club may be highlighted as follows:

  1. to promote the game of Chess among the students
  2. to organize Chess competition in and outside the Campus
  3. to participate in the Chess Competitions at College level etc.

The Club became affiliated to the Mizoram Chess Association (MCA) in 2006 and has participated in the Chess competition organized by the Mizoram Chess Association, Mizoram University etc. In 2006, the Club also organized a Chess competition within the campus where many of our College students have participated. Separately, the club also organizes a competition for the College staff, in which interested staff participates.

The Chess Club creates the feeling of belongingness to the college among the students and brings them nearer to each other. More interaction among the students further enhances the spirit of co operation. The Club plans to organize more competitions in the college inter – college Chess Competition, State – wise competition in the next five (5) Years.

Due to limited infrastructural facilities, no allowance can be made for a separate club room. Better materials and a room where students can play the game with deeper concentration is highly desirable.
